Established in 1864, Newmarket Saddlery has a long and proud history in the Australian saddlery industry. Built on generations of craftsmanship, horsemanship and a genuine passion for horses, our business has continued to evolve while staying true to the values that have stood the test of time.
Wayne Walker’s love of horses began at a young age. In 1969, he commenced his apprenticeship with Newmarket Saddlery, learning the trade and developing a deep understanding of saddlery and the equestrian industry. Just three years later, Wayne purchased the business and began the next chapter of its story.
At the time, Newmarket Saddlery was predominantly a wholesale and manufacturing business, producing quality Australian-made saddles, bridlewear and leather strapping. In 1991, Wayne and Heidi Walker expanded the business by opening a retail outlet, allowing them to connect directly with riders and horse owners across Australia.
More than 160 years after Newmarket Saddlery was first established, the business continues to be proudly family owned and operated. Our commitment remains simple: to provide the right products at the right price, backed by genuine knowledge and experience.
Horses are more than just our business—they are a way of life. The Walker family, including Scott, Mariah and Lisa, are all passionate riders. We personally use, test and trial many of the products we stock, giving us the confidence to recommend products based on real-world experience.
